Phone case gifts that feel personal, without custom printing
We should say up front: we do not print names, photos or custom text. Every case is one of our own designs, printed to order. But a gift does not need a monogram to feel personal. What makes it land is the sense that you thought about them specifically. This guide is about how to show that.

Choose for their story, not their style
Style is generic: everyone likes nice colours. Stories are specific. Think of a detail only you would know, and look for a design that echoes it.
- They have a corgi, or always wanted one: the corgi portrait.
- Your first trip together was to the coast: the turquoise coastline.
- Their grandmother grew peonies: the peony bouquet.
- They talk about puffins every time a nature documentary comes on: the puffin on deep blue.
- They are the calm one in every group chat: the otter floating on its back.
The design does not have to be literal. A field of wildflowers at dusk can stand for a walk you took. A snowy owl can be a running joke. The connection is what you tell them in the note.
Put the story in the note
This is the step most people skip, and it does most of the work. One or two sentences explaining why you chose this design turns an object into a message.
- With a gift code: your note goes in the email or text, and you choose the card style it arrives on.
- With a shipped case: we do not put notes in the parcel, so make a free reveal card. Pick the design, write up to 140 characters, and text the link or print it.
Examples that work: "For the person who has never once walked past a dog without saying hello." "Because you still talk about that week in Big Sur." Short, specific and a little bit funny tends to beat long and sentimental.
Get the practical details right
Nothing undoes a thoughtful gift like a case that does not fit. Check the exact phone model. If you cannot without spoiling the surprise, send a gift code instead; they choose the model, and your note still carries the personal part.
A few designs people pick for a reason
Timing it
Gift codes can be sent immediately or scheduled for a date, which is a nice touch for a birthday morning. Shipped cases leave within 48 business hours with free US shipping; for the winter holidays we recommend ordering by Dec 14 for the best chance of US delivery by Dec 25.
Ideas by relationship
- Partners: pick for a shared memory, and write the memory in the note.
- Parents: pick for something they love that you rarely mention, like their garden or a family pet.
- Friends: pick for an in-joke. The note can be one line.
- Siblings: pick for something from childhood, like the animal you both obsessed over.
- Grandparents: pick something easy to see and describe, and add a photo of you holding the same design on your own phone if you want a matching pair.
Matching cases are a nice idea in general: two people, the same design on two different phones. Order each one with its own model and they arrive separately.
One more tip: if you are torn between two designs, pick the one you can explain in a sentence. That sentence is your note, and the note is what they will remember after the box is recycled.
